What you'll learn: How to import patient data from other systems into your practice.
When to Import
Import data when:
- Starting with the system
- Migrating from another platform
- Adding bulk patient records
- Merging practice data
Accessing Import
- Go to Settings
- Find Import or Data Import
- Follow the import wizard
Supported Formats
Common import formats include:
- CSV files (spreadsheet format)
- Excel files
- Exports from other systems
Preparing Your Data
Before importing:
- Export data from your source system
- Review the data for accuracy
- Format columns as required
- Check for duplicates
Required Fields
Minimum information needed:
- First name
- Last name
- Email or phone
Additional fields that can be imported:
- Address
- Date of birth
- Status
- Notes
The Import Process
- Upload your file — Select the file to import
- Map columns — Match your columns to system fields
- Review — Preview what will be imported
- Confirm — Start the import
- Results — See what was imported and any issues
Column Mapping
If your column names differ:
- The system asks you to match them
- Select which system field each column maps to
- Skip columns you don't need
Handling Duplicates
The system checks for duplicates:
- By email address
- By phone number
- You may be asked how to handle them
Options typically include:
- Skip duplicates
- Update existing records
- Import as new
After Import
Once import completes:
- Review the imported records
- Check a sample for accuracy
- Look for any errors reported
- Follow up on issues
