Voice Input Overview

Instead of typing, you can speak your questions to the AI assistant. This is faster for some people and helpful when your hands are busy.

Starting Voice Input

  1. Click the microphone button next to the text input
  2. A countdown may appear as the system prepares
  3. When recording starts, the button changes appearance
  4. Speak your question clearly
  5. Click the button again to stop recording

Recording Indicators

The microphone button shows different states:

Ready (Default)

  • Normal microphone icon
  • Click to start recording

Initializing

  • May show a countdown
  • System is preparing to record

Recording

  • Button may pulse or change color
  • Indicates active recording
  • Speak your question now

Processing

  • Loading indicator appears
  • Your speech is being converted to text
  • Wait for it to complete

After Recording

When you stop recording:

  1. Your speech is converted to text
  2. The text appears in the input field
  3. You can edit the text if needed
  4. Press Enter to send, or record more

Tips for Clear Voice Input

Speak clearly — Enunciate your words.

Normal pace — Don't rush or speak too slowly.

Quiet environment — Background noise can interfere.

Complete thoughts — Finish your question before stopping.

Editing Voice Input

After your speech is converted:

  • Review the text in the input field
  • Make corrections if anything was misheard
  • Add or remove words as needed
  • Send when it's accurate

Combining Voice and Typing

You can mix both methods:

  • Start by speaking
  • Edit with typing
  • Continue speaking to add more
  • The text accumulates in the input

When Voice Input Isn't Working

If voice doesn't work:

  • Check that your browser has microphone permission
  • Ensure your microphone is connected and working
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Check your device's microphone settings

Browser Permissions

Your browser may ask for permission:

  1. A prompt appears requesting microphone access
  2. Click "Allow" to enable voice input
  3. This only needs to be done once
