Chat History
What you'll learn: How conversation history works, accessing previous chats, and managing your chat sessions.
Conversation Persistence
Your conversations with the AI assistant are saved:
- Return to find your previous messages
- The assistant remembers context
- Continue where you left off
Viewing History
When you open AI Chat:
- Recent messages appear in the chat area
- Scroll up to see older messages
- The conversation flows from oldest at top to newest at bottom
Loading More Messages
If you have a long history:
- Scroll to the top of the conversation
- More messages load as you scroll up
- A loading indicator shows when fetching history
Conversation Context
The assistant uses conversation history:
- References earlier questions
- Maintains topic continuity
- Provides relevant follow-ups
Example:
- Earlier: "Show patient John Smith"
- Later: "When was his last appointment?"
- The assistant knows "his" refers to John Smith
Starting Fresh
To begin a new conversation topic:
- You can simply start asking about something new
- The assistant adapts to the new topic
- Or look for a "New Chat" or "Clear" option if available
Session Management
Your chat may be organized into sessions:
- Sessions group related conversations
- New sessions may start automatically
- Previous sessions may be accessible
Why History Matters
Having history available helps:
- Continue complex discussions
- Reference previous answers
- Avoid repeating yourself
- Build on earlier work
Privacy of Chat History
Your chat history is:
- Stored securely
- Visible only to you
- Protected by the same security as other data
- Not shared with other users
Scrolling Through History
To navigate your conversation:
- Scroll down — See newer messages
- Scroll up — See older messages
- Jump to bottom — May have a button to return to latest
History and Multiple Devices
If you access from different devices:
- Your history syncs across devices
- Continue conversations anywhere
- Same experience on any device
Limitations
Chat history may have limits:
- Very old messages might not be available
- There may be a maximum history length
- Sessions may expire after long periods
